Welcome
The SPUC 2019 Fall Conference program is complete and registration is open! The conference will be held at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas from September 27-29, 2019. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Leadership Summit on September 26. The Leadership Summit will offer an overview of the role of telemedicine in pediatric urgent care as well as panel discussions on communicating with payers and new innovations in the urgent care setting. The core program will begin on September 27. We are excited about having Cook Children’s Medical Center host the full program as well as providing tours of one of their urgent care sites.
The Leadership Summit will begin with Dr. Justin Smith with Cook Children’s providing a presentation on the impact and significance of telemedicine in acute care. Panel discussions during the summit will go into further detail about telemedicine protocols/guidelines, innovations being developed in the urgent care environment and addressing the challenging aspects of communicating with payers.
The core conference will begin with Cook Children’s Chief Operations Officer Stan Davis with an update on pediatric urgent care. Each year during conference planning, we make adjustments based on feedback from members and conference attendees. For 2019, we will provide a more developed nursing track and offer continuing nursing education credits. There will be a medical director roundtable plus discussions covering caregiver burnout, difficult patient & families, re-emerging illnesses, and active shooter response in the healthcare setting. Hands-on workshops being offered this year include mock code scenarios, orthopedic exam & splinting, and child life techniques.
Top poster presentations will be presented as podium sessions. Attendees will also have a chance to review work by their peers in an informal poster presentation session. The program registration and lodging information are available on our website and in the mobile meeting guide.
We cannot wait to see everyone this fall in Fort Worth for another exciting and educational SPUC conference.
