Observership, Skagit Valley Hospital, Mount Vernon, WA
Shadowed Dr. Mark Wallace, an ICU attendant. The goal was to get an overview and understanding of how medicine is practiced in the US compared to what I learned and practiced in Cameroon. I also had the opportunity to observe the interactions between, nursing staff, medical students and residents in service.
General Practitioner, District Hospital, Biyem-Assi
Yaounde, Cameroon

Reported to the Hospital Chief Medical Officer. Successively assumed the position of Chief of Pediatric, Internal Medicine, and Surgery Units. These roles allowed me to ensure that nursing staffs properly apply medical guidelines and protocols. Additionally, I oversaw patient’s consultations both inpatient and outpatient, followed up hospitalized patients, and performed minor surgical interventions, while liaising with other healthcare professionals and/or hospitals on a needed basis. I made sure staff conformed to guidelines and protocols to improve efficiency. At community level, I worked with the District Health Medical Officer and the district health committee to design health action plans and strategies for the district.
